In the modern age there was never a heavier crown borne upon a head held so high. Despite the trials and tribulations both personal and national, Queen Elizabeth bore it all with the dignity and stoicism that made her beloved by the Realm. Farewell Your Majesty, rest in peace.

My grandad passed almost exactly a week before the Queen, at 11pm on September 1st. He was a big fan of the Queen and shared her faith in God, I am sure he will have found her at heavens gates to speak with her. The Royal Family are in my thoughts and prayers at this time. God save the King.
Jérôme E. Descours from Paris (France)
For us in France, Queen Elizabeth II was a real icon, a kind of permanent stabilising figure. One of our previous ambassadors to Britain said last night that when he met the Queen, it was more than a meeting with a most eminent personality, it was like a meeting with History. I know that whatever their sensibilities, my friends across the Channel were saddened by her death and so were almost all the British people. So I send my condolences to them.
