July at the Cathedral

Guildford Cathedral welcomes the arrival of the new month, and we are very much looking forward to our services and events, with something for everyone.

The Cathedral is open daily to visitors*. Our Guides are on hand to welcome you and offer self-guided tours and information about us and our history. If you are attending one of our services our stewards are on hand to show you the way.

🌼 For Families

On Wednesday 3 July at 10am we look forward to our monthly Cathedral Tots. This month we are telling the story of the Sabbath rest. We will enjoy relaxing with playdoh, make teds in a bed and ‘work, rest and play’ clocks . This free monthly informal worship service is for pre-schoolers and their parents/caregivers.

On Wednesday 31 July at 10am and 11am our popular holiday event Family Fun Day returns for primary aged school children. This month come on a journey with us as we will be making hot air balloons, submarines, floating boats, rockets and ‘where shall we go?’ spinners. 🧐 For the Curious

Join us for a Guided Tours on Friday 5 July at 10.30am. Join our knowledgeable Guides on a tour exploring the Cathedral, an iconic Grade II* listed building. Advanced bookings must be made for both tours at www.guildford-cathedral.org/events/boxoffice, tickets cost £6.50pp.

🏁 For the Adventurous

In July we have two scheduled Tower Tours. On Friday 5 July at 12.30pm and Saturday 20 July starting at 10.30pm. Come and join us on an exciting journey spiralling up the 249 steps to the top of the Tower. Pass through our Ringing and Bell Chamber containing the only ring of 12 bells in the Diocese. 🎼 For the Music Lovers

On Saturday 20 July at 7.30pm we are looking forward to welcoming The Royal Marines Association Concert Band and Treorchy Male Choir in Concert comprising talented ex-Royal Marine military and civilian musicians, this traditional miliary choir band will perform an eclectic programme with the world-famous Treorchy Choir. On Sunday 7 July at 6pm we look forward to a Choral Evensong with the Installation and Valedictions of Choristers. All are welcome to join us.

During July, our Choir will begin their summer break. Please visit our website for the most up-to-date information before attending a service.

Our Gift Shop and Cafe offer warmth of greeting and many delights.

🎁 Come browse the gift shop which has cards and gifts for all ages. The shop team are always happy to help with recommendations for that special treat or purchase.

☕️ Season’s Cafe offers delicious refreshments whether it be tea and cake, a light bite, or a more substantial lunch.

 

🅿️ Parking for Cathedral Visitors

There is free 2-hour on-site parking for visitors to the Cathedral, Shop and Cafe.

If your visit is longer, please speak to a member of the shop team.

RESTRICTIONS IN JULY

University of Surrey Graduation Ceremonies:

Wednesday 10 – Friday 12 July | Please note that the University of Surrey will be setting up for the Graduation ceremonies, so you may not find us as you expect us.

The Cathedral is closed to the public all day on Friday 12 July and from Monday 15 – Friday 19 July. As we welcome students from the University of Surrey for graduations. The Lady Chapel will be open for quiet prayer, accessed via the North Door at the far end of the car park. We will be open for Evening Prayer from 5.30pm. Our gift shop and Seasons open as usual.
