June at the Cathedral

Guildford Cathedral welcomes the arrival of the new month, and we are very much looking forward to our services and events, with something for everyone.

The Cathedral is open daily to visitors*. Our Guides are on hand to welcome you and offer self-guided tours and information about us and our history. If you are attending one of our services our stewards are on hand to show you the way.

Here is a snapshot of what you can look forward to.

🌼 For Families

On Wednesday 5 June at 10am we look forward to our monthly Cathedral Tots. This month we are giving thanks for our families and will be having fun making craft activities on this theme. This free monthly informal worship service is for pre-schoolers and their parents/caregivers.

On Tuesday 25 June from 6.30pm – 8.30pm our annual Open Night for Girl Choristers is taking place. If you know someone who is aged 9 – 18 years and would like to experience being a Girl Chorister than this is for them. Join us for an informal and fun evening at the Cathedral joining in with our friendly group of musicians who enjoy singing together. 🧐 For the Curious

Our spring season of Guided Tours continues this month. Come, and join us on Friday 7 June at 10.30am. Join our knowledgeable Guides for both tours exploring the Cathedral, an iconic Grade II* listed building. Advanced bookings must be made for both tours at www.guildford-cathedral.org/events/boxoffice, tickets cost £6.50pp.

🎼 For the Music Lovers

Our June Coffee Concert will take place on Thursday 13 June from 10.30am. We are looking forward to welcoming the University of Surrey Chamber Choir. The morning begins with tea, coffee, and biscuits at 10.30am, followed by the performance at 11.15am, finishing at 12 noon, just in time for lunch!

On Friday 21 June at 7pm, we are looking forward to our very own Chris Hollingshurst, Danny Wignall, and special guest Matthew Hollingshurst as they perform in their band ‘Red House Rhythm and Blues.’   Summertime Blues will be an evening full of good music, passion, and humour with a two-course meal in Seasons. On Sunday 9 June at 6pm we are looking forward to Holy Trinity Choir, Guildford joining the Cathedral Choir for our Choral Evensong. We will also be joined for Choral Evensong on Sunday 30 June at 6pm by the Schola Cantorum of Tewkesbury Abbey.

Whilst on Wednesday 26 June at 5.30pm our Choral Evensong will be sung by the Merchant Taylors’ School Chamber Choir.

Our annual Handbell Service will be taking place on Saturday 15 June at 3pm. This service celebrates the Handbell Ringers of the South-East of Great Britain.

Before Choral Evensong at 5.30pm on Sunday 16 June and Sunday 23 June come and listen to our Organ Recitals as part of a series given by young student performers, celebrating the organ!

Surrey Joint Services on Sunday 23 June at 11.30am. This special service gives thanks for the courage and commitment of the country’s Armed Forces.

The Ordination of Priests and Deacons will take place on Saturday 29 June and Sunday 30 June at 10.30am. The ordinations of new Priests and Deacons from the Diocese of Guildford by the Bishop of Guildford, The Right Reverend Andrew Watson.

On Sunday 30 June at 3pm we are looking forward to a Valedictory Organ Recital by Jeremy Wan our current Organ Scholar. The recital of organ works will be a celebration of his year here at Guildford.

Our Gift Shop and Cafe offer warmth of greeting and many delights.

🎁 Come browse the gift shop which has cards and gifts for all ages. The shop team are always happy to help with recommendations for that special treat or purchase.

☕️ Season’s Cafe offers delicious refreshments whether it be tea and cake, a light bite, or a more substantial lunch.

There is free 2-hour on-site parking for visitors to the Cathedral, Shop and Cafe.
