Eco Day | 13 March 2025

On Thursday 13 March, Guildford Cathedral will host a Diocesan Schools’ Eco-Day for KS1 pupils. The day will involve learning about the effects of CO2 on our planet and encourage thinking about reusing and recycling items to reduce waste. There will be Prayer Stations to encourage children to think about the wonderful world God has created for us, and our responsibility in looking after it for the future. The day finishes with an act of Collective Worship for pupils to join together their reflections, prayers and singing voices, as they prepare to return to school with the positive news that each small thing we do can make a big difference in our world.

Feedback from 2024 Eco Day

  • 'It was the best day of my life so far!’  (child participant)
  • ‘Our children had a really special day. They enjoyed all the activities and the setting was so beautiful. They especially enjoyed the singing.’
  • All the leaders were so good with the children. We are getting ready for our Toy Swap Shop as a way of limiting plastic, saving money and recycling so that we can do our part in looking after God's planet.
  • It was such a fantastic day! Thank you so much.  Our children came out very excited about what they’d learned and done.

The Eco-Day is for KS1 pupils, ideally those who are part of your school’s Eco-Team. Each school can bring 6 pupils to join in with the day. We hope that groups will travel to the Cathedral in a way that is eco-friendly; please do consider using the train, bus or car-sharing for your journey. The day will begin at 10.00am and finish at 2.30pm. The cost of the day is £20 per school.
