GUILDFORD CATHEDRAL MUSIC PATRONS’ SCHEME
Here at Guildford Cathedral music fills this sacred space with melody. Our organ, orchestral instruments and sung worship draw our community together, giving space for prayer and reflection and resonating throughout and above the soaring arches of the Cathedral. Above the south transept doorway, each day as the procession of choir and clergy enter and exit, the words from Psalm 150 -  'Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord' are read by all who pass by.

Music matters - it matters because not only are we decorating and lifting up our worship to God, but we are allowing both young and old, participant and listener, a glimpse of that heavenly kingdom. We offer an educational and spiritual journey through the route of chorister, organ scholar, lay clerk, changed voice singer, adult voluntary choir member, Organist and Master of the Choristers and Sub organist, parent, grandparent, relative, supporter, friend and visitor.

Music brings our building and our worship alive with colour, sound, energy and vision. The texts we sing - the notes we learn and play or sing - all these transform our lives as we give breath and voice to a greater song.

I invite you to become a Music Patron of Guildford Cathedral, with my assurance that your support will directly benefit and sustain financially the work of our musicians in this place.

Katherine Dienes-Williams
Organist and Master of the Choristers
