Safeguarding

Guildford Cathedral is committed to providing a welcoming, respectful and safe environment for all, including children and adults who may be at risk of abuse and neglect. The care and protection of children, young people and adults involved in Cathedral activities is the responsibility of everyone who participates in the life of the Cathedral Community.

Cathedral Safeguarding Policy

A copy of the Cathedral Safeguarding Policy is provided below, which should be read in conjunction with the Guildford Diocese Safeguarding Policy and Practice Guide and the Church of England Safeguarding Policy and Practice Guidance.

Early in 2019 The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) conducted an independent audit of the safeguarding arrangements of Guildford Cathedral. This programme of work was commissioned by the Church of England will see all the Church of England’s cathedrals audited between late 2018 and early 2021. It represents an important opportunity to support improvement in safeguarding. The results of the audit can be downloaded here and the Action Grid here.
