Stag Hill Review 2023

Welcome to the Stag Hill Review 2023 — our opportunity to reflect on and celebrate a remarkable year at Guildford Cathedral.

2023 was a year defined by creativity, compassion and connection. At the heart of it all was the visit of the Knife Angel — a striking national monument against violence and aggression and to those lives lost to knife crime. Standing tall on Stag Hill, it drew over 25,000 visitors, opened vital conversations, and united schools, community groups, faith leaders and civic partners in a powerful stand for peace. It was a moment that reminded us of the Cathedral’s unique role as both a place of reflection and a catalyst for change.

Alongside this, the Cathedral’s year was rich with worship, music, and welcome. From the daily rhythm of prayer to the soaring beauty of choral evensong; from coffee concerts and children’s activities to major fundraising efforts and outreach — we continued to serve our community with purpose and imagination.

This review brings together the many strands of our mission — spiritual, cultural, educational and social — to showcase the scale and impact of what we do.

To our donors, supporters, funders and friends: thank you. Your generosity made all of this possible. We hope you enjoy revisiting the highlights of 2023, and feel as proud as we do of all that was achieved on Stag Hill.
